Ok, the boss and I are trying to work this out….when does the famed alpaca lifestyle begin? WE NEED FEEDBACK? But if you are living it it may mean that you’ll be victim of our venom if you own up to it!
Now, firstly we are full time alpaca breeders. Absolutely no other source of income. so we drink a lot of Blue Kahuna’s…see PPR event beverage list! More of that later. We manage to stay on top of things show wise because we study our breeding intensely. We do win our fair share ( Yes, I am turning a leaf and being graceful!) I hope you agree? But here we are putting up all of our 2011 show team ( except Chakotah’s Wyuna who a half share has already been sold in) and we are presenting all our cria born this year that are destined for the 2012 show team.
It makes me bloody well nervous! We’ll loose our edge. Our own genetics will be slaying us in the show ring ( mind you there is not a greater compliment and it happened in the Championship White Male class at the AOBA Nationals this year!). Although I do recall a fellow Northwest breeder who is a very discerning breeder claim he hated it when that happened. I love to happy customers. But its true, we sell our best we may be with the rest!! Now listen to my angst please. Everybody raves about their best being in their auction. Happens all over the country. Mostly its dribble. But Jude and I have to pay the bills. We don’t have a nest egg, nor even another paying job, business or investment. Its alpacas, that’s it.
SO OUR BEST ARE IN THIS SALE…I HOPE PEOPLE ARE PAYING ATTENTION.
Now the boasting starts. There is not another suri farm in the US that can equal the picture above of three suri males, the GWAS Kahuna Get Team, and say they are all products of their breeding and are that quality. Manu, Chico and Tikanui are all champions, all the ideal. We have several more just as good! On the right is Snowmass Artic Legacy. When we first put togethr a Snowmass huacaya stable of stud males we asked Julie Skinner to select a young one at the elite ideal level. She chose this boy with three inputs of 3Peruvian Accoyo Legacy who Al ( me) chose in Peru. Whe we saw the two prominent female sin the parentage ( Snowmass Liberty Bell and Snowmass Legacy Lace) we fell over ourselves buying him. Now we will sell a half share.
So my conscience…our conscience, I stand corrected, is squared away because we have offered our absolute best. Its simple. We have to to get attention. To get sales. To pay the bills.
Hey if you are up for one and half days of frivolity, get along. We just booked a local Mexican family who is going the full Mexican Cuchina for Sat lunch and BBQ dinner and we’ve finished our Embryo Transfer presentation.
Premier education. Live music. Free grog. ( We had a complaint last year that people couldn’t find the Blue Kahuna Cocktail Bar…oooh, I wonder why!!!) Free tucker. The best alpacas we can supply. A very peaceful venue in the heart of wine country with a cool fire pit and the best two dogs on the planet to keep you busy!
BE THERE OR BE SQUARE…Oh, there’s phone bidding!!!!
Now you thought I was loosing my mind didn’t you because I wandered off a bit during this particular raving…but I’ll get back to the crazy bit…we lost our summer somewhere…anyone seen it…we are selling our best alpacas…did anyone notice….as usual we are full of trepidation because we hope some sell…they flaming well better….the RSVP list is like our pantry……well not really there is never enough…and oh yeah we have just realized its just less than three weeks away……..yyyyaaaarrggghhhhh!
