PUCARA INTERNATIONAL CO-OWNED STUD MALE GUIDELINES

To be formalized in a joint ownership contract.

 

 

  1. Partners share the stud male 50:50.
  2. The stud male will be insured for life and fertility by the buying partner for a minimum of the cost of their purchase.
  3. All expenses and income are shared equally.
  4. There are no expenses for management, agistment or care to either party. Only veterinary expenses are charged equally to partners.
  5. The breeding season is to be shared equally by both partners with the stud male only travelling to each farm once per breeding season.
  6. Each partner can breed as many females as they please which they own 100% at no cost to the partner. Female alpacas owned in joint ownership with any outside party are to be charged pro-rata.
  7. Breeding fees are to be established by agreement of both parties. Discounts for breeding packages and sale females can be applied by either party.
  8. The breeding fee is to be split by both partners with the managing partner receiving the first $500 for conducting each breeding.
  9. Either party may send their own females to the managing partner’s farm to be bred by the stud male with a limit of three females at any one time. The partner who owns the females relieves the managing partner of any responsibility except any gross negligence.
  10.  The managing partner is to shear the stud male, preserve the fleece and have fiber tests done at Yocom McColl testing lab.
  11.  The managing farm accepts responsibility to notify the other partner immediately that any issue regarding the stud male arises, including health, breeding, marketing and business decisions. The managing farm has immediate right to get veterinary care to the stud male if need arises.
  12.  Both parties will provide adequate shelter and facilities during extremes of weather to protect the stud male, and will not use the stud male for breeding in extreme heat conditions.
  13.  Both parties agree to provide the stud male sufficient grazing area and supplemental nutrition as required, based on weight, body condition and general health records to be kept at a minimum on a monthly basis.
  14.  Both parties will keep breeding records and report to the other party at the end of each breeding season. The records will detail the name of the female, the owner, all breeding dates, confirmation of pregnancy and any fees attracted from outside females.
