Suri breeders have us "backed into a corner with Kahuna genetics". They should pay attention! We have added to our suri herdsire stable two prepotent elite white herdsires, both who happen to be Accoyo, not that we care all that much. We do care however that they can produce. Chachapoya is one of those boys and his first we have in 2010 are fabulous.
And how things evolve! We first discovered Chachapoya back in 2006 at the International Alpaca Odyssey, in Laughlin, Nevada. Jill Bergman who breeds some of the best suris in the country won the white female championship with this gorgeous female that was the daughter of Chachapoya. We hunted him down and visited him in Ohio. He took our breath away. We also thought he looked the spitting image of the famous Peruvian Inca of Latah Creek fame.
No chance of a purchase as Mike Barnhart had stitched that up. But now, 5 years later, Chachapoya makes his debut at Pucara International. We're licking our chops thinking what he can do with the Kahuna daughters. He'll get our best females.
At his age he displays amazing luster, cover and handle, good bone, a stunning head, and pefectly correct confirmation....oh, and a willingness to work like a true macho...he has what we call constitutional vigor!
No fiber stats right now, but up until we purchased him he had 27 cria...10 Whites, 4 LF, 3 True Black,1 from a LB 1 from A WHITE!!! one from a MF, ...5 Beige, 3 from whites....one LRG from a LF!!!...2 LF's, 2 MF's..., 2 LB's.
The 2010 cria we have from “Chach” are displaying all the suris traits, that we admire, in abundance. The luster is outstanding, the coverage is to the ground, the heads are regal with that Suri beard we all love, the density is way above average, but what really makes them stand out is the pencilling. The independence is incredible.
There you have it...a full Accoyo boy producing heaps of color often darkening the cria from the dam's color and with Suri style that discerning breeders applaud.
