DensityProfile:Snowmass Perfection
Jude and Alan believe in using science as much as possible to take the guessing out of livestock production. Time and again they have seen breeders misconstrue the density of alpacas. So often people without the skills to gauge fineness of micron guess higher micron alpacas to be dense and lower micron alpacas to be less dense. The only way to conclusively tell density is to measure it with a skin biopsy report.
Fellow Australian, fiber expert and scientist Jim Watts, has been sent the skin biopsy from Snowmass Perfection and his analysis is shown on this link. His words were:
"Density Profile
The density profile for the 68 month old white Huacaya alpaca male, “Snowmass Perfection” is attached. The results are excellent.
The animal has a high density of fine and evenly sized fibres. The primary fibres are considerably finer and more uniform in diameter than generally measured in alpacas. Secondary follicle branching is extensive(high S/P ratio of 11.0 to 1). "
Not only does Perfection have the cria, the show results, the pedigree, he also has the science! If you would like an expalanation of all the figures please call Alan on 503 843 3939.
