Doug and Lori at Suris of Castle Pines have a superb small breeding program of colored suris just outside of Denver. They keep a low profile but they have high genetic gain in their small herd. Doug is a student of genetics and studies the alpaca colored form guide really hard, and really well! He has done so since 1998. In 90 Proof they have produced a stand out ink, jet, pitch, midnight...and all the other connotations of trying to say true black. He is a solid male that performed well in the 2010 show ring winning blue in all his outings including the Futurity and AOBA Nationals. You would expect no less coming from the sire Sirius Black who we campaigned here for one season. He needs no introduction as a former Reserve Herdsire of the year at the Futurity. The dam Twist-N-Shout is the mother of championship quality cria originally from the Sierra Bonita program. See her fiber histogram here showing a low micron of 22.1m with a cv of 21.5...superb figures for a five year old. That test was done when she was 64 months old! 90 Proof's full sister "Cassis of Castle Pines" (Dk. Brown) was reserve champion at the 2011 GWAS show. In 90 Proof we have a robust male of beautiful proportion exhibiting a dense even fleece that is showing off good regrowth on a second shearing right across his frame. His fiber spanks of high luster and uniformity along with a slick greasy handle. We are breeding 90 Proof over several of our top line colored girls and whites this season because we are so confident that his genotype and phenotype reflect his magnificent pedigree capably.
